Madsen Scores 11th Overall Win of 2014

PETERSEN MEDIA- Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team had a very strong weekend as they pocketed a pair of podiums including a win at the Dodge County Fair Speedway, making it nine on the year in the United States, and 11 total since January 1st.
“We were really fast all weekend, and it feels great to get another win for these guys,” Madsen said.
With 30 cars on hand for the IRA Series event on Saturday night, Madsen timed the Nehring Construction/Aspen Aire/Kline Electric No. 18 machine in 10th fastest, putting himself in the second row of his heat race.
Slipping back to the fourth when the race went green, Madsen was able to move back into third within a lap, and would finish in the same position, as he transferred to the feature event.
Lining up third in the feature event, Madsen got off to a great start as he rocketed into the second spot, as the top-two quickly distanced themselves from the rest of the field.
Breaking out to nearly a straight-away advantage of the third place car, Madsen set his sights on the race lead, as the lead duo got into traffic. Traffic was tough on this night, as Madsen got held up, and actually slipped back to third spot at one time.
Though traffic bit him, Madsen would fight back to take the lead near the halfway point, only to fall back to second as Reinke got him back.
With the track relatively clear, Madsen stayed glued to Reinke’s back bumper, and took the lead back in the closing stages of the race to much of the crowd’s delight. With Reinke on hi back bumper, Madsen was able to fend him off and pick up the very exciting feature event win.
Friday night at the Luxemburg Speedway, Madsen started on the pole of his heat race, and after a handful of red flags, was able to jump into the lead, and pick up the win, putting him into the feature event.
Lining up in the fourth row of the feature, Madsen battled for the sixth spot in the early laps until thick lapped traffic came into play. Getting pinned behind a couple of lapped cars for a restart, Madsen made a huge move to get by the slower cars, and ultimately work his way into the fourth spot.
Sitting in fourth with two laps left in the race, Madsen was able to make a pass for third coming to the checkered flag.
“We have such an awesome team, and it is a pleasure to drive for them,” Madsen said. “We have been fast all year, and hopefully as the season comes to a close we can stay fast, and carry it over into the next season.”
