PETERSEN MEDIA- Running well as some big races approach, Ian Madsen and the KCP Racing team picked up a third place finish with the ASCS National Tour on Friday night in Missouri, before scoring another podium on Saturday night in Knoxville, IA.

“It was another good weekend for our race team,” Ian Madsen said. “We are running really well everywhere and that is huge with some big races coming up.”

Friday night in Moberly, MO, Madsen would get things off to a great start as he worked his way from his fifth starting position in the heat race to finish second.

Moving to the feature event based on passing points, the St. Marys, NSW native lined the Logan Contractors Supply/Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring No. 18 machine up in the third row for the 25-lap feature event.

Running in the lead pack much of the night, Madsen would chase after Aaron Retuzel and Sam Hafertepe as they ran in front of him. Late in the feature Reutzel’s misfortune would be Madsen’s gain and he would take over the third spot.

The closing laps would see Madsen challenge the ASCS National Series point leader for the second spot, but would come up short as he settled for a third place finish at the stripe.

Traveling to Knoxville, IA on Saturday night, Madsen would continue to run well in Lucas Oil Cup competition. Timing in fifth fastest in time trials, Madsen would line up fifth in his heat race and finish in the fourth position.

Lining up seventh for the feature event, Madsen would run in that same spot as the feature event was slow to get going. Following a couple of early stoppages, Madsen would get going forward as the race reeled off laps.

Able to fight past some tough competition, Madsen would pick up his fourth podium of the year with the Knoxville Raceway 410’s as he has now overtaken the point lead.

“We continue to be extremely consistent, and that is a good thing,” Madsen noted. “We are consistently fast and up front, so if we can continue to be so, more wins will come.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Greenland Homes, Team Excavating, TammyHeckart.com, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, Des Moines Area Roofing, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Monarch’s, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
