PETERSEN MEDIA- Welcoming the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series to the Knoxville Raceway over the weekend, Ian Madsen would have a strong outing on Saturday night that would see him run second for much of the race before a mechanical issue would sideline him with just two laps to go.

“I am really happy with how we good our car has been lately,” Ian Madsen said. “We battled all night long on Saturday, and were looking to have a really good finish, but we had some bad luck with two-to-go.

Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway, Madsen timed the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Kline Electric backed No. 18 machine in 12th fastest amongst the 32 cars checked into the pit area.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the St. Marys, NSW driver would work his way into the second spot, which would earn him a spot in the all important dash. Finding himself on the front row alongside fellow Australian, Jamie Veal, Madsen would finish second, and line up on the front row of the 25-lap feature event.

Settling into second as the race got underway, Madsen would soon feel pressure from Donny Schatz. With the duo battling wheel-to-wheel for a pair of laps, Madsen would hold on to the position for the time being.

As Madsen continued to chase after Veal, Schatz would come back into the equation on the 15th lap, and would get the spot from the Royal Flooring/Bobcat/Tammy Heckart backed entry.

Once in third, Madsen would not let Schatz get away as the lead group and gotten away from the field as the laps clicked off. With Schatz getting by Veal late in the race, Madsen too would get by him to reclaim the second spot, but it would be short lived as mechanical issues would force Madsen into the infield two laps shy of the checkered flag.

“I was pretty bummed the way our night ended, but we showed some great speed, and had a great car all night,” Madsen added. “My crew guys are doing an awesome job, and hopefully we can make some noise during a busy week this week.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Finer Cuts lawn and Landscape, Lucas Oil, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
