Mason Moore 11th and 12th at Gold Cup Race of Champions

PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in three nights of action during the 2017 Gold Cup Race of Champions, Mason Moore would record an 11th place finish with the Civil War Series pres. by Flowmaster on Wednesday night before finishing 12th with the World of Outlaws on Friday night.
“It was a pretty good Gold Cup for the 22 team,” Mason Moore said. “Saturday night we just couldn’t really get going anywhere after timing in so bad on a really heavy and fast surface.”
Wednesday night saw the Princeton, CA pilot check in at the Silver Dollar Speedway to kick off the big week of racing as he timed the Coors Light/Econo Lube and Tune/Geico Local Office backed No. 22 machine in seventh quickest in time trials.
Working into second in his heat race, a late restart would see Moore slip back to third where he would finish. The finish was still good enough to lock him into the feature event where he would be placed 10th in the starting grid.
Fighting for position in the Top-10 for the duration of the race, Moore just could not seem to get his LRB Race Products/NAAKE Suspension/K&N backed entry going. Continuing to fight for a Top-10, Moore would close the opener out with an 11th place finish.
Spectating Thursday night’s USAC race, Moore would return to action when the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series rolled into town on Friday night. Timing in seventh quickest in his qualifying flight, Moore would race his way to a fourth place finish in his heat race.
Punching his ticket into the Gold Cup Race of Champions preliminary night feature event, Moore would take the green flag from the 13th starting position. On a surface that offered drivers a little bit of everything, Moore would fight hard with a nice mix of some of the country’s best, as well as some of the state’s top talent.
When the checkered flag was displayed to the field, Moore crossed under with a 12th place finish.
Returning to the speedway for Saturday night’s finale, Moore and the rest of the field would have their hands full on an extremely wet surface for much of the night. Going out early in his time trial flight, the track would continue to get faster as the session went on and Moore would end up 14th quickest.
Lining up seventh and finishing eight in his heat on the locked down surface, Moore would make his way to the night’s Last Chance Showdown where he would start seventh and finish eight and officially end his Gold Cup.
“Saturday night was tough, because your night was almost dictated on your time trial draw,” Moore said. “It was the same for everyone, it just did not work out for us. Thanks to everyone on this team for all of their hard work all week.”
Moore would like to thank Coors Light, Econo Lube and Tune, Geico Local Office, , LRB Race Products, NAAKE Suspension, K&N, Selover Paint and Body, Lucas Oil, ITC Service Group, Saureel, and Moore Insurance Services for their support.
ON TAP: Mason Moore will be back in action in the F&F Racing machine on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.
