Mason Moore 5th at Gold Fever Open

PETERSEN MEDIA- Making a decision late in the week to run the Gold Fever Open at the Marysville Raceway, Mason Moore turned in a strong performance that would see him pocket a fifth place finish on Saturday night.

“We just made the heat race inversion in qualifying and it worked out really well for us,” Moore said. “I thought we raced well, and we ended up with a strong finish.”

Timing the Coors Light/ITC Service Group/LRB Race Products No. 22 machine in 16th fastest, Moore would find himself on the pole of his heat race and a win would put him in the nightly redraw.

Pulling the seven pill, the Princeton, CA driver would line the NAAKE Suspension/JRI Shocks/Platinum Powder Coating backed No. 22 machine up in the fourth row for the 30-lap A Main event.

On the extremely fast Marysville Raceway, Moore was able to work his way forward in the early goings of the feature event, as he would find himself as high as the fourth spot battling with Brad Bumgarner and Nick Ringo.

As the laps clicked off, Moore would lose the position late in the race though he would not get Ringo get away from him. Trying to get back around him and reclaim the position, Moore could not find his opening, and would take the checkered flag with a fifth place finish.

“Traffic got a little tricky with the track being so fast, and we just made a mistake and gave up the fourth spot,” Moore said. “I was happy with how we ran, and am really appreciate the decision was made to come out and run this race.”
