PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting two races in over the Memorial Day Weekend, Mason Moore and Brian Cannon Motorsports would have an up and down night on Saturday in Marysville, CA during the Mel Hall Memorial before pocketing a ninth place finish on Sunday night during the Silver Dollar Fair in Chico, CA.

“Saturday night we had some bad luck with a part failure while leading our heat race, but we held on and transferred into the feature where I kind of struggled and thought something broke,” Mason Moore said. “Sunday we had a pretty good night with some things going our way and we came away with a ninth place finish.”

Checking in for the 19th Annual Mel Hall Memorial in Marysville, CA on Saturday night with the Civil War Series, Moore would open a busy weekend up by timing the Mike’s Harder Lemonade/Garth Moore Insurance/FK Rod Ends backed No. 47 in 11th fastest in time trials amongst the 29 drivers checked into the pit area.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Princeton, CA driver would get off to a great start as he rocketed away from the field. While comfortably out front, Moore would be the victim of a failing power steering fitting and it would forced him to wrestle his machine around for a few laps. Falling out of the lead, Moore would still hang on to transfer into the 30-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 13th starting position, Moore would stay in the spot on the hooked up racing surface. Around the halfway point he felt like something failed in his suspension and pulled into the infield and ended his night.

“We tried something, and it just didn’t feel right,” Moore said. “I thought something broke and pulled in, thankfully it was just a feel and nothing was broke and it gave us something to work on for Sunday.”

41 cars converged on Silver Dollar Speedway Sunday night, and Moore would find himself seventh on the speed chart following time trials.  Finishing fourth in his heat race, Moore would have some luck on his side and would make his way into the all important Dash.

Going from eighth to fifth in the Dash, Moore would line up in the third row for the Fair Race feature event as the field took the green flag in front of a capacity crowd.

On an extremely racy surface, Moore would be in for a battle as he jockeyed for position inside the Top-10. Some cautions would negate some of the track position he gained, but would free him from traffic on a couple of occasions.

When the 30-lap affair came to a close, Moore would take the checkered flag in the ninth position.

“Overall it was good have some pretty good speed in the BCM car,” Moore noted. “It was a little disappointing to finish ninth after starting fifth, but at the same time it is nice to finish with a Top-10.”

Brian Cannon Motorsports would like to thank Mike’s Harder Lemonade, Garth Moore Insurance, FK Rod Ends, and Mountain Mikes Pizza for their support in 2018.
