PETERSEN MEDIA- Mason Moore and his F&F Racing team continue to keep things interesting with the Civil War Series points battle as Moore finished fifth on Saturday night at the Petaluma Speedway and sits second in series points as the series nears it’s halfway point for the 2016 season.
“I really have to thank my guys for all they do,” Mason Moore said. “We don’t get to run Petaluma outside of the two Civil War Series events, and we had really good speed in what was our first visit of the season.”
With 27 cars in the pit area, Moore timed the Econo Lube and Tune/Geico Local Office/LRB Race Products No. x1 machine in second fastest, putting him in a great position for the rest of the night.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Princeton, CA driver would finish in the third spot, putting him in the feature event and also the dash based on his qualifying effort.
Pulling the number five pill during the redraw, Moore would finish in the fifth spot, which placed him in the third row for what would be a non-stop 30-lap feature event.
When things came to life, Moore would find himself battling with Geoff Ensign as the field raced around the Petaluma Speedway. The surface on this night offered teams a little bit of everything and gave the fans their monies worth with cars battling all through the field.
Moore would get into the fourth spot, and begin to go after the lead trio that raced just ahead of him. As the field got into traffic, Moore would close the gap but soon felt pressure from a charging Bradley Terrell.
Moore would do what he could to fend off Terrell but in the closing laps, Terrell would get the spot and Moore would close his night out with a top-five finish.
“I hope the fans enjoyed that because it is pretty rare when you see a race like that go non stop,” Mason Moore said. “It was a good Top-Five finish for us, but we have to start beating the 7c car if we want to make this points battle interesting. I think if we can continue to stay consistent things will stay close and it will be a fun second half to the schedule.”
Moore would like to thank Coors Light, Econo Lube and Tune, Geico Local Office, LRB Race Products, NAAKE Suspension, K&N, Selover Paint and Body, Lucas Oil, and Moore Insurance Services for their support.
ON TAP: Moore and the F&F Racing team will be in action on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
