PETERSEN MEDIA- Mason Moore had quite an eventful weekend. After battling issues aboard his Mason Moore Racing No. 22 machine on Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Moore would lead 24 of 25 laps on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway only to see his second win of the season snatched away on the race’s final lap.
“It was a tough weekend, but I can’t thank both teams enough for all they do for me,” Moore said. “Friday night we had some gremlins that the guys worked through, and Saturday night we were really good again in the No. x1 machine but we got beat on the last lap.”
Taking part in the 9th Annual Bill Brownell Memorial on Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Moore’s team would discover a brake issue just as he pushed into staging for time trials. With no time to make repairs Moore would time in with no brakes and during session would have an engine issue, but still managed to time in third quickest.
Going to work on the Coors Light/Econo Lube and Tune/Geico Local Office No. 22 machine, Moore would miss his heat race but would make the call for the feature event where he gridded the field from the sixth row.
On an extremely racy track, Moore would make some moves during the action packed 25-lapper where he would work his way up to finish in the sixth spot when the checkered flag flew on a wild night.
Making the trip to the Placerville Speedway with the Friends and Family No. x1 team on Saturday night, Moore would continue to show strength at the racy ¼ mile speedway as he timed in seventh quick during time trials.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Princeton, CA pilot would get the jump when the green flag flew and he would race his way to the win and subsequently earn a spot in the redraw.
With Lady-Luck on his side, Moore would find himself with the two pill, which put him on the front row of the 25-lap A Main event. Getting the jump again, Moore would set sail from the field as he looked for his second feature event win of the season.
With drivers battling for position behind Moore he was able to extend his lead until Sean Becker got into the second spot. With the race coming to a close, Moore would find himself in thick traffic, which allowed Becker to erase his once sizeable lead an make things interesting.
As the white flag waived, Moore would take it as the leader but he had ‘The Shark” nipping at his heels.
Using a full head of steam out of turn two, Becker would grab the top spot as the leaders headed into turns three and four, and Moore fell to the second spot, where he would go on to finish.
“It’s definitely a lowly feeling to lose one like that, but that is why the call him ‘The Shark’,” Moore said. “It is a bummer to not win, but in the big picture it was a good night for this team. We have been good, and hopefully we can continue be up front and contending for wins.”
Moore would like to thank Coors Light, Econo Lube and Tune, Geico Local Office, LRB Race Products, NAAKE Suspension, K&N, Selover Paint and Body, Lucas Oil, and Moore Insurance Services for their support.
ON TAP: Moore will be back in action on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway with the F&F Racing team.
