PETERSEN MEDIA- Princeton, CA driver Mason Moore had another consistent weekend with his Friends and Family Racing team that saw him score two more Top-10 finishes as he chases points with both the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster and the Placerville Speedway.
“It was a decent weekend for us,” Mason Moore said. “I thought we had good speed in both feature events, and we were able to come through the field a little bit to pick up a couple of Top-10’s.”
Traveling to the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA on Friday night to take part in the Civil War Series’ sixth event of the 2016 season, Moore would time the Econo Lube and Tune/Geico Local Office/LRB Race Products No x1 machine in 10th fastest.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Moore would pick up a second place finish, which locked him into the feature event, but would come up short of a Dash berth.
Gridding the field from the sixth row for the 30-lap feature event, Moore would get off to a slow start as he would find himself as far back as the 15th position in the running order. On a surface that seemed to get more racy as the laps clicked off, Moore patiently worked his way forward as he raced much of the night with Andy Forsberg.
Taking advantage of some double file restarts, Moore would bring his night to an end with a ninth place finish.
Making the long drive back to the Placerville Speedway for Saturday night’s race, Moore would lay down a great lap in qualifying time trials that saw him end up third on the speed chart.
With a driver making a false start ahead of him in heat race action, Moore would move up to the front row and race his way to the win. Moving into the feature event redraw, Moore would pull the six pill and line up in the third row for the 25-lap ‘A’ Main. Getting into the third spot, Moore would get out of shape and slip back to the seventh position.
Still running in the seventh spot on a restart, contact with another car would send Moore’s machine around and he would be relegated to the back of the pack. From deep in the field, Moore would remain calm as he worked his way forward just as he did the night before.
Getting back inside the Top-10, Moore would close this night with a seventh place finish.
“When a tough weekend is two Top-10 finishes, that just shows the kind of season you are having,” Moore added. “These guys work hard for me and give me a great car each and every night.”
Moore would like to thank Coors Light, Econo Lube and Tune, Geico Local Office, LRB Race Products, NAAKE Suspension, K&N, Selover Paint and Body, Lucas Oil, ITC Service Group, Saureel, and Moore Insurance Services for their support.
ON TAP: Moore will be back in action on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway.
