Mason Moore Survives Wild SCCT Opener To Finish 16th

PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing back aboard the FnF Racing No. X1 machine on Saturday night to kick off the 2017 Sprint Car Challenge Tour campaign, Mason Moore would survive a wild opening night event to finish in the 16th spot.

“The track was tricky and there was some guys doing some crazy stuff, so I am just happy we were able to roll it back in the trailer,” Moore said. “The FnF Racing guys gave me a great car, and I am looking forward to really getting our season going now.”

Timing the Geico Local Office/Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes/Twisted Tea backed No. x1 machine in seventh fastest in his qualifying group, the Princeton, CA driver would finish eighth in his heat race.

Going to overall qualifying times to line up the semi-main, Moore’s time would be good enough to line the Levin’s Auto Supply/Garth Moore Insurance/LRB Race Products entry up in the fifth row of the semi, needing to finish in the Top-Seven to keep his night moving along.

Moore would flex his muscle a bit in the ‘B’, as he was able to pick up the necessary spots to transfer to the feature. Finishing sixth, the 2016 Placerville Speedway Champion would gird the field from the 21st starting position.

When the green flag waived in the feature event, the gloves seemingly came off for much of the field. With the track tough to pass on, Moore used his patience as he stayed out of the fray on this night.

Though it was not the charge from the rear he was hoping for, Moore would take the checkered flag with a 16th place finish.

“There was some carnage, and I just kept running a patient race,” Moore said. “It wasn’t the greatest finish in the world, but we will take it and move on to this weekend.”

Moore would like to thank Geico, Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Twisted Tea, Levin’s Auto Supply, Garth Moore Insurance, LRB Race Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Sierra Single Ply, Lucas Oil, RPI, and Encore Catering for their support in 2017.
