Matt Peterson 10th in KWS Debut

PETERSEN MEDIA- After spending some time away from his winged sprint car, Matt Peterson and his team opted to take on the King of the West 410ci series on Saturday night with their 360ci power plant under the hood and fought through the night to finish in the 10th spot.
“It was really a productive night for our team,” Matt Peterson said. “My dad threw some stuff at the car to try to get it to work better and I think we figured something out because it felt really good in the feature.”
Going into Saturday’s race underpowered, Peterson would kick his night off by timing the Miller Lite/V&H Fresh/Inventory Sales Company No p37 machine in 17th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Running sixth in his heat, the Wilton, CA pilot would line up in the 17th starting position for the 30-lap feature event. On an extremely slick surface, Peterson wasn’t as underpowered in the feature event with the track leveling the playing field a little.
Slowly working his way forward in the feature event, Peterson would find himself involved in a tangle in turns one and two following a lap 17 restart. Going to the tail end of the field, Peterson remained calm and got to working his way forward again once the action resumed.
Turning in a very strong performance in what was his first Sprint Car start in a few weeks, Peterson would take the checkered flag in the 10th spot.
“Saturday night definitely exceeded my expectations,” Peterson said. “It was good because I learned I could push myself harder in my car which will help when we get back to 360ci racing, and like I said it gave my dad a chance to really work on some stuff with our car and I think he is on to something.”
Matt and his team would like to thank, Miller Lite, V&H Fresh, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Transportation Services, Future Energy Savers, Hoskins Mechanical Resources, Vahlco Wheels, JhdDesings, Shell Shock, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2016.
2016 BY THE NUMBERS- Races-9, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-4
ON TAP: Matt Peterson will return to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the 11th Annual Mark Forni Classic.
