Matt Peterson Rallies After Early Tangle

PETERSEN MEDIA- Though he didn’t get the finish he was looking for to kick of the 2015 Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster season, Matt Peterson overcame an early race tangle and raced his way back to an 11th place finish on Friday night in Marysville, CA.

“It was a little bit of a bummer to get involved in a tangle like that, but fortunately we were able to restart, and my guys gave me a really good car, and we were able to make the most of the night,” Peterson said.

Friday night at the Marysville Raceway, 27 cars checked in for action, and Peterson got things underway by timing in the Miller Lite/V&H Fresh/Inventory Sales No. P37 machine sixth fastest, before finishing fourth in his heat race.

The Wilton, CA product would earn a spot in the night’s dash, where a sixth place finish placed him in the third row of the 30-lap feature event. With the track slick, Peterson got off to a slow start as he looked to settle into a rhythm in the race’s early goings.

Slipping back to the eighth spot, where he ran when the caution flew on the eighth lap, Peterson would find himself with nowhere to go as a car spun in front of him on the restart, and he became part of the wreck.

With minor damage to his machine, Peterson made a quick stop in the work area, and was able to restart the race, for what was then a non-stop 22-lap segment.

On the slick surface, Peterson had his elbows up, as he was locked in during that final run. Working his way through traffic, Peterson would finally cross the stripe with an 11th place finish.

“We needed another caution or two after the yellow, but it just did not happen that way,” he added. “Huge thanks to all of the people who help out on this car, and continue to support us.”

Matt and his team would like to thank V&H Fresh, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Future Energy Savers, Transportation Services, The Oil Medics, Shell Shock, Vahlco Wheels, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2015.
