Matt Peterson Shows Speed at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Though the end result was not what Matt Peterson and his team was hoping for, Peterson was happy with the speed he showed on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway.

“It was really an awesome night, aside from the spin,” Peterson said. “Scott Males and my guys really gave me a great car, and it was awesome to be up front again for a while.”

Heading to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the Independence Day holiday, Peterson started his night off by timing the Miller Lite/V&H Fresh/Inventory Sales Company No. p37 machine in ninth fastest.

Starting on the front row of his heat race, the Wilton, CA pilot got the jump when the green lights came on, and went on to pick up the win, and earn a spot in the nightly redraw.

“We took advantage of our qualifying spot, and we put ourselves in a great spot heading into the feature event,” Peterson added.

Lining his Bear Trucking/Future Energy Saves/Transportation Services backed entry up on the pole for the feature event, Peterson got off to a great start as he rocketed out into an early lead. In the opening laps, Peterson turned in some impressive laps as he seemingly built up his lead lap after lap.

On the fifth lap, things would come unraveled for Peterson, as he lost the handle on his machine as he approached lapped traffic, and spun to a stop forcing the waiving of the yellow flag.

Able to restart from the back of the pack, Peterson was able to make up some ground as he worked his way back up to a 14th place finish.

“It definitely was not the finish we were hoping for, but like I said it was good to have speed like that and be a car that was in contention,” Peterson added. “We have had some bad luck lately, and I really feel like this was a step in the right direction.”

Matt and his team would like to thank V&H Fresh, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Future Energy Savers, Transportation Services, The Oil Medics, Shell Shock, Vahlco Wheels, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2015.
