PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to racing with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday night, Matt Peterson’s night did not go as he had hoped but the Wilton, CA driver is not getting down about it.
“In years past I would get down on myself after having two nights like we have had so far, but this year has a different feeling to it,” Peterson said. “I feel like these nights will help us grow as the season moves along, and that is what I am focused on.”
Getting his night kicked off by timing the Miller Lite/Inventory Sales Company/Bear Trucking backed No. p37 sprinter in eighth fastest in his qualifying group, Peterson would line up in the fourth row of his heat race.
Needing to finish in the top-three to move directly into the 40-lap feature event, Peterson would finish in the seventh spot and the find himself on the front row of one of the night’s twin ‘C’ main events.
When his race came to life, Peterson would lose the handle on his machine and spin to a stop forcing his Transportation Services/Future Energy Savers/Hoskins Mechanical Resources entry to the back of the pack.
On a racy and slick Placerville Speedway, Peterson would stay poised from the back of the pack as he worked his way forward in a hurry. Getting back into the Top-Five, Peterson would get by Zack Lynskey and Cody Hodgson to work into the third spot.
Trying to track down second running Jimmy Trulli in the closing laps, Peterson would run out of time and his night would come to an early end.
“Again, the driver let the team down,” Peterson said “We had a good car, and if I don’t make a mistake in the C, we probably transfer into the semi and then who knows what happens. I will do a better job on my end and hopefully I can get going.”
