McMahan and Destiny Motorsports Finish Fifth at Lawrenceburg

PETERSEN MEDIA: Paul McMahan and the Destiny Motorsports capped a three-race week off with a strong showing at Lawrenceburg Speedway on Monday night. Battling up front all night, McMahan and company would end the Memorial Day Weekend with a fifth place finish.

“It was a nice way to end our weekend,” McMahan said. “We had really good car speed all night long, and we were up front battling hard for 35-laps.”

Monday night in Lawrenceburg, IN, McMahan and Destiny Motorsports checked in at Lawrenceburg Speedway for a Monday night showdown. Laying down a strong lap in qualifying time trials, McMahan timed the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Champion Brand Lubricants No. 4 machine in fourth fastest overall.

Racing with Daryn Pittman in heat race action, McMahan would finish in the second spot and punch his ticket into the night’s Craftsman Club Dash. Having some good fortune on his side, the inversion would place McMahan on the front row of the race alongside Donny Schatz.

Finishing second to Schatz in the Dash, the Nashville, TN driver would move on to the feature event where he would roll off the grid in the second starting position for the 35-lap affair.

With Schatz getting the initial jump, McMahan would cut under the leader as the field exited turn two too briefly lead down the backstretch before Schatz and Shane Stewart both rode the cushion to drop McMahan back to third.

Battling hard with the lead duo, McMahan would then hook up in a battle with Kyle Larson for the third spot. Exchanging sliders with the NASCAR Monster Energy Series standout, McMahan would eventually lose the spot and run in the fourth spot before eventually taking the checkered flag in the fifth spot.

McMahan and company were also in action on Wednesday night at the New Egypt Speedway where they had another solid showing with the greatest show on dirt that resulted in an eighth place finish, and on Friday night issues would end their night early while competed at the Dirt Track at Charlotte.

“Overall it was another step in the right direction for our team,” Paul McMahan said. “We were able to get a couple of good finishes which is what we all needed. Rick and Barb Rogers are still behind this team 100% and everyone is working hard day in and day out.”
