Mechanical Gremlins Hinder Jacob Pacheco and GWR at Santa Maria
(PETERSEN MEDIA)- On a night that started out with mechanical gremlins plaguing the transporter, the GWR team would ultimately see mechanical gremlins hinder the No. 12 car during Saturday night’s feature event with Jacob Pacheco in the seat.
“The night started out rough for the team with truck issues, but thankfully there are some great people in the racing family that went above and beyond and helped us get to the track,” Jacob Pacheco said.
Overcoming the early adversity, Pacheco was able to get off to a good start as he timed the Speedway Motors/CS9/System1 backed entry in eighth fastest amongst the 15 cars that made the trip out.
A twist in the format on this night saw each car compete in two heat races. Lining up fourth in both of his heat races, Pacheco would turn in identical performances that saw him pocket a pair of third place finishes.
Heading into the feature event, Pacheco would roll off the starting grid from the eighth starting spot. When the green flag was displayed to the field, Pacheco would have his hands full a bit in the early stages of the race as he tried to adjust to a car that was on the tight side.
Working on adapting to the car, Pacheco’s night would end on the fifth lap as a mechanical failure would force him into the pits early.
“Event though our night came to an early end, it was great to get back in the car and race again,” Pacheco said. “I would like to thank everyone with GWR, my friends, and my family for all of their continued support.”
