Mechanical Issues Sideline Andy Gregg at Silver Dollar Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Bringing his well known No. 16x machine back to life on Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Andy Gregg would have a good run go south as a mechanical issue would force him to retire from the feature event prematurely.
“It was a busy week getting everything finished up on our car, and I really want to thank all of the people who spent time in my shop helping me out,” Gregg said. “Friday night we had pretty good speed, and everything felt good but we had something go south during the A Main.”
Timing the GUTS Racing/ARP Enterprises/Capitol Ace Hardware No. 16x machine in fifth fastest overall in qualifying time trials, the Placerville, CA driver would pick up a third place finish during his heat race.
Pulling the four-pill in the redraw, ‘Guts’ would line his K&N Products/FK Rod Ends/King Racing products machine up in the second row of the 25-lap A-Main. Running in the fourth spot for the first few laps, Gregg would get into third as he chased after Kyle Hirst and Jonathan Allard.
After a few laps in the third spot, Gregg’s engine would start to act up, and he would eventually pull off the racing surface and retire for the night with a 20th place finish.
“The engine started acting up, and we were losing speed and losing positions,” Gregg said. “Checking it out, it doesn’t look too serious, so hopefully we can get the 16x out again soon.”
Andy would like to thank GUTS, ARP Enterprises, Capitol Ace Hardware, K&N, FK Rod Ends, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, FK Shocks, Wilwood, , and Nail It Roofing for their support in 2015.
ON TAP: Gregg will be back in action at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night aboard the Russell Motorsports No. 14R machine.
2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-19, Wins-3, Top 5’s-9, Top 10’s-13
