PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing aboard the Burt Lathrop Special on Saturday night to take on the Civil War Series, Joe Stornetta experienced mechanical issues during much of the night, that ultimately saw him pull his machine off the speedway during the night’s B main event, ending his night early.
“We just fought engine trouble all night it seemed,” Stornetta said. “In the B Main, it seemed like it was getting worse, and I opted to call it a night, and hopefully be able to race another day.”
With 26 cars checked in at the Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night for the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster event, Stornetta would go out late in time trials and end up 19th fastest overall.
Starting and finishing seventh in heat race action, Stornetta and company would go to work on the No. 9n machine to try and get issues solved prior to the B Main.
Rolling off for the last chance race in the third position, Stornetta would make only a few laps before opting to pull his machine off the racing surface, and end his night early.
“It seemed to get worse lap after lap, so I thought it was best to pull off,” Stornetta added. “Everyone on the team worked hard at it all night, and hopefully we can figure out what our issues was and get it worked out.”
With Petaluma in his rear view mirror, Stornetta is now looking forward to this weekend’s Wingless Series presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos event at the Calistoga Speedway.
After finishing second at the historic back in April, Stornetta has made it known that this is a race he wants to win very badly.
“I can’t wait to get back to Calistoga Speedway on Saturday night,’ Stornetta would note. “Being from Napa, CA it would be a huge accomplishment to win at such a historic track. We were really strong back in April, so I am hoping to be in contention on Saturday night.”
Joe Stornetta would like to thank JPS Trucking, The Geide Family, OK Tire Store, iWear Motorsports, Parmeter General Engineering Service, X Winery, Bergin Glass, LJ’s Speed & Machine Shop, Rick Lawley Trucking, Black Hawk Body Shop, and The Holman Family for their support.
