PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing aboard his Willie Croft Racing entry on Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Willie Croft had a great run get cut short as a broken piece in his brake system caused him to pull into the pit area.
“We were in fourth and running well, but we had a fitting break, and it pretty much ended our night,” Croft said.
Kicking his night off with a third quick effort in time trials, Croft would pick up a second place finish in heat racing action aboard his Holey Smokes BBQ/Christian Stover Foundation/ButlerBuilt machine.
Lining up seventh in the 25 lap feature event, Croft flexed his muscle early as he quickly jumped into the top five, chasing after Andy Gregg and Mason Moore.
Getting by Gregg to move into the fourth spot, Croft looked for more as the laps clicked down.
Closing in on Sean Becker, something went south in Croft’s entry, as he began to lose brakes and was forced to pull in to the pit area just a few laps shy of the checkered flag.
“I just have to thank everyone who continues to help me out, and support this race team,” he said. “We have been fast this year, just haven’t seemed to have any luck on our side.”
