PETERSEN MEDIA: Though he struggled a bit during his four week tour in the United States, Michael Cunningham will be the first one to tell you that he had a blast, as the Kyneton, Victoria driver competed in his final two nights of competition during the Fall Nationals at the Silver Dollar Speedway.

“I had an absolute blast each time we hit the track,” Cunningham said. “I struggled, and did not run very well, but I met some great people, and caught up with some friends, and really had fun, and can’t thank everyone that helped us out enough.”

During the Fall Nationals at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Cunningham started the weekend off on Friday night where he timed in 25th fastest, before finishing seventh in his heat race.

With rain in the area the week leading up to the event, the track stayed heavy and fast all night long, as Cunningham gridded the field from the fourth row in the night’s B Main event.

Spending much of the race battling with Steven Tiner and Mike Monahan, Cunningham came up just short of transferring to the feature event, as his sixth place finish had him on the outside, looking in.

Back in action on Saturday night for his final night of competition in the Golden State, Cunningham went out very early in time trials, and slipped back to 47th fastest, as the track developed some serous speed towards the end of the time trial session.

Finishing eight in his heat race, Cunningham would line up in the 13th spot of the C main event, and in the early stages of the race, he would lose the handle, as the track was much more slick on this night.

Restarting from the tail end of the field, Cunningham would get back up to the ninth spot, but that would be it during his 2014 trip to the United States.

“I love coming over and racing,” he said. “I would have liked to run some more races, but we are pretty busy with work back home, so I need to get back, and also get ready to race back home as well. Again, I cannot thank all of the people enough who make this possible.”

Michael and his Cunningham Racing team would like to thank PRP Engineering, and A.R.T. Speed Equipment for their support.
