Mid-Race Contact Ends Andy Gregg’s Summer Nationals Early with C&M Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting the call to run in Chico, CA over the weekend with C&M Motorsports, Andy Gregg jumped at the chance to return to the seat. While he had a good night going, an unfortunate incident halfway through Friday night’s feature ended Gregg’s night early.

“First and foremost, I want to say how grateful I was to get the opportunity to drive Cody and Mandi Geaney’s car over the weekend,” Andy Gregg said. “We were really fast in hot laps, and I knew we would be good all night. I felt like Cody, and I had great chemistry and it led to a fun night until we tore some equipment up.”

Timing the Legacy Specialties Inc./Lund Construction/Anrak backed No. 7c in second fastest in his qualifying group, Gregg would line up on the front row of his heat race.

With 61 cars on hand, each position was extremely vital in heat race action. Getting the jump, the Diamond Springs, CA driver was able to race his way to the win which gave him a berth in the redraw.

Lining up sixth in the feature event, Gregg would run sixth during the opening two laps before a caution flag paused the action. The ensuing restart saw Gregg get out of shape in turns one and two as he biked and fell back to 12th before he gathered the C&M Motorsports entry back up.

Racing around mid-pack as the laps clicked off, contact with another car would ensue on the 11th lap that ultimately brought his night to an early end.

“I made a mistake on an early restart, then as I was trying to get going again, there was some contact that tore the car up pretty bad,” Andy Gregg said. “I hate that we tore equipment up, but on the bright side the C&M Motorsports car has a lot of speed, and I am really thankful for the opportunity.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Legacy Specialties Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Alturas Tires, Swartz Diesel, PT Shocks, Creason Enterprises, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: C&M Motorsports will return to action on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.
