Mid-Race Incident Ends KWS Opener Early for Roth Motorsports and Kyle Hirst

PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to a familiar seat for Saturday’s KWS opener, Kyle Hirst was back in action with Roth Motorsports and had a good run going until a mid-race incident caused damage to his front end and brough his night to an early end.

“It was great to get back in the Roth Motorsports No. 83 for a night of racing,” Kyle Hirst said. “It is a great group of guys and they’re a ton of fun to race with. We had a great car all night, unfortunately the driver wasn’t quite as good as the car we had all night.”

Timing the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. backed no. 83 entry in 14th fastest in time trials, Hirst would power his way to a third-place finish in his heat race on what was a very slick Stockton Dirt Track surface.

Moving into Saturday night’s feature event, the four-time series champion would take the green flag from the 12thstarting position on a complete reworked and manicured Stockton Dirt Track surface.

At the waving of the green flag, Hirst was able to jump into the Top-10 as he mixed it up with the likes of Shane Golobic, Austin McCarl, Tim Kaeding, as well as Bud Kaeding.

In a fast and furious opening stanza that saw the leaders quickly find traffic, trouble would strike Hirst on the 13thlap as contact left him with a folded up front end.

While the Roth Motorsports team made a valiant effort in the work area to make repairs, time would run out and the action would resume with Hirst left in the work area.

“There was a mid-race restart that didn’t go my way, and as I was trying to get going forward, I made a mistake that it folded up our front end,” Hirst added. “Big thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth, and the entire Roth Motorsports team for a night of racing, as well as to the Stockton Dirt Track for providing us with a great surface.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, FK Rod Ends, Vahlco Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support in 2021.
