PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night Hanford, CA was one of the few places able to get a race in, and Austin Liggett made the trip down to compete with the USAC West Coast 360 Series. Having a strong run, Liggett would be in the mix for the race lead until an issue on the 13th lap hampered him enough to go to the work area during a red on the 23rd lap before coming back to finish 11th.

“It was a bummer for sure,” Austin Liggett said. “The way the race was going and the way it ended I think it was setting up to be a great finish, but life goes on and we will try again this weekend.”

Checking in at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA Liggett opened his night up by timing the Excel Environmental Services/Lucas Oil/Hurst Fabrications backed No. 83 machine in second quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Tracy, CA native was able to grab a couple of positions on the newly configured speedway and finished in fourth.

Lining up fifth in the feature by way of his time trial effort, Liggett would get off to a great start and rocketed his way up to the second position as he put heavy pressure on Jake Swanson who led early in the night.

Continuing to hound Swanson, Liggett would feel something go south in the front right corner of his machine, but he would continue to push the issue and he looked to fight his way to the finish.

A red flag on lap 23 would allow Liggett the opportunity to go the work area and see about getting the damage fixed and they would be able to do just that. Though mired at the back of the pack for the final seven laps, Liggett was able to gain some positions as he just missed out on a Top-10 finish as he would be scored 11th.

“We had a great car and I have to thank my family for working hard for me all night,” Liggett said. “It is always a great time at the track with everyone, and we will see if we can get in victory lane on Saturday.”

Austin Liggett Racing would like to thank Excel Environmental Services, Lucas Oil, Hurst Fabrications, Infinity Shocks, 4 Alarm Promotions, Epic Fire Apparel, and Jarrett Soares Racing for their support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-4, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-1

ON TAP: Liggett is geared up to battle the USAC/CRA series as well as the USAC Western States Midget Series on Saturday night at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA.
