Mid-Race Restart Hinders Justin Sanders and Miller Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Looking to build off their early season success at the Silver Cup, Justin Sanders and Dale Miller Motorsports were in contention for a third consecutive win together on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, until a mid-race restart left Sanders spun around and facing the wrong direction.

“Dale’s car has been really good so far in our first three races together, and we had a good enough car to win on Saturday night,” Justin Sanders said. “Unfortunately, we all kind of got bottled up on a restart and we got the short end of the stick and ended up spun around.”

The Aromas, CA driver got his night off to a quick start with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour as he timed in second fastest in his time trial group and put the Thompson’s Buick-GMC/Thompson’s Jeep-Ram/Dale Miller Septic, Inc. backed No 4sa on the front row of his heat race.

Leaving the field in his wake in heat race action, Sanders would pick up the win and earn a spot in the Dash where the three-pill placed him in the second row of the six lap event.

Finishing third in the Dash, Sanders was set for the 35-lap feature event where he took the green flag from the third starting position.

Slipping back to fourth on the opening circuit, Sanders would quick jump into third as be battled with the likes of Sean Becker and Tanner Carrick. Continuing to run in third, Justyn Cox would enter the fray making for an tight battle up front.

On a lap 14 restart, cars would bottle neck getting into turn one, and contact would result in Sanders getting turned around in turns one and two, forcing him to the back of the pack.

Restarting 22nd, Sanders would slowly work his way back forward as he would get as high as the 14th spot, before retiring from the event and getting an 18th place credit.

“We have a very fast car, and I am looking forward to trying again on Saturday night.”
