Mitchell Faccinto Nets Top-5 at Morrie Williams Tribute

PETERSEN MEDIA- Racing close to home during the month of October, Mitchell Faccinto and Tarlton Racing kicked the stretch off in Hanford, CA this past weekend where Faccinto tallied a fifth-place finish at the Morrie Williams Tribute.

“We had really good speed early in the night both Friday and Saturday,” Mitchell Faccinto said. “Friday night we had some engine issues in our heat that really set us back, but on Saturday we took care of business and ran fifth in the first feature.”

Paying homage to famed car owner Morrie Williams on Saturday night, the NARC/KWS used a special format that culminated with a pair of 20-lap feature events.

With 30 cars checked into the pit area, Faccinto started his night off by timing the Tarlton and Son Inc./EZ Haul/Executive Auto Sales backed no. 21 in seventh fastest after going out 24th to take a time.

Lining up third in heat race competition, the Hanford, CA product pocketed a third-place finish and punched his ticket into the Morrie Williams Tribute feature event where he rolled off of the starting grid from the seventh starting position.

As the feature event went green, the racing surface was fairly narrow in the opening 20-lap feature event, but Faccinto was determined to work his way forward. Carefully navigating around the 3/8 mile oval, Faccinto worked his way into fifth when the fast paced feature event came to a close.

Pulling into the infield to make adjustments prior to the second 20-lap affair, Faccinto rolled off of the starting grid from 11th as all lead lap cars from the opening feature were fully inverted.

The second feature was more of the same as the first where passing was tough, and Faccinto spent the duration of this 20-lap affair vying for position inside the Top-10.

Slipping back to 13th as the race drew a close, Faccinto closed the night out with a 13th place finish in the second ‘A’.

Friday night the team was also in action as they battled with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour during the Cotton Classic. With 42 cars on hand, Faccinto set the standard in time trials and earned fast time overall.

Lining up fourth in his heat race, Faccinto would fight some issues under the hood of his Tarlton Motorsports entry and fell out of a transfer position and was forced into the ‘B’.

Battling with brother, Michael, in the ‘B’, Faccinto finished second and moved into the 35-lap Cotton Classic feature event where he took the green flag from the 21st starting spot.

When the feature went green, contact would ensue to Faccinto’s car and damage would bring his night to an end before the ‘A’ even got started.

“We have been really fast as of late, and I am confident heading into two big KWS/NARC races this weekend, and then Trophy Cup in two weeks,” Faccinto said. “Drew, Shane, and everyone that helps us out have been doing a great job, and I thank them all for their hard work. I also want to thank the Tarlton’s for continuing to support us, and give us great equipment to compete.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 43, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 13, Top 10’s: 25.

ON TAP: Mitchell Faccinto and Tarlton Motorsports will be at Keller Auto Speedway on Friday night for the Simone Classic, and then will travel to Tulare, CA on Saturday night for the Dennis Roth Classic.
