PETERSEN MEDIA- After enduring extremely bad luck on Friday night prior to pushing off for the feature event where he was scheduled to start on the pole, Mitchell Faccinto and the Tarlton Motorsports team bounced back well on Saturday night as Faccinto picked up a sixth-place finish at the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial.
“Friday was going really well for us, and we put ourselves in a good position to have a good run in the feature but a part failure before we pushed off ended our night,” Faccinto said. “Drew, Shane, and the whole team worked hard to get things fixed for Saturday, and though we had some bugs to work out early we bounced back and had a pretty good night.”
Saturday night in Placerville, CA, Faccinto and company went to work after hot laps showed they still had gremlins to work out. Making a couple quick adjustments, things were pointed in the right direction for the Fresno, CA based team as Faccinto timed the Tarlton and Son Inc./EZ Haul/Executive Auto Sales No. 21 in seventh fastest in time trials amongst the 26 cars checked into the pit area.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, more adjustments after qualifying paid off as Faccinto looked sporty in the 10-lap shootout. Pacing the field from start to finish, Faccinto raced to the win and punched his ticket into the Sunnyvalley Bacon Dash.
Lining up in the second row of the Dash, Faccinto looked for his second Dash win in as many nights but came up a little short as he charged from third to finish second.
Making his way into the 40-lap feature event, Faccinto found himself on the front row for the second time in as many nights, as was able to breathe a sigh of relief when his car fired for the feature on this night.
On a racy Placerville Speedway surface, Faccinto would settle into second when the race came to life, but two and three-wide battles would be the norm when the action was under green flag conditions.
The early part of the race was mired by stoppages and restarts would see Faccinto dip inside the Top-five as he fell to fifth on the 10th lap.
As the action eventually got into green flag rhythm, Faccinto would slip back as far as eight, but in some hotly contested battles he would work his way back forward.
Getting into sixth on the 35th lap, Faccinto would briefly slip back to seventh for a few laps, before securing the sixth position coming to the checkered flag.
“I really have to thank Tom and Tommy Tarlton for continuing to allow me to drive their car,’ Faccinto said. “The guys worked hard all weekend, and we just missed it a little in the feature on Saturday night. We were still good; the track just didn’t quite do what we expected. The good thing is, we keep putting ourselves in good spots and if we continue to do that, I know the wins will come.”
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Tarlton and Son Inc., EZ Haul, Executive Auto Sales, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, System 1 Ignition, Vortex Wings, and BG Lubricants for their support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 20, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 6, Top 10’s: 12.
ON TAP: Mitchell Faccinto will now begin to Road to Dirt Cup which kicks off on Friday night in Chico, CA before heading to Cottage Grove, OR on Saturday.
