PETERSEN MEDIA- Mason Moore kicked his 2016 season off over the weekend in Stockton, CA over the weekend by taking on the World of Outlaws aboard his Mason Moore Racing entry on Friday night, and contending with the ‘360’s’ on Saturday night aboard the Friends and Family Racing No. x1 entry.
“It was good to get racing, and get the cobwebs and rust knocked off,” Mason Moore explained. “It’s tough to kick your season off taking of the World of Outlaws, but it was good to get a feel for the new car, and then get a chance to run with the new team on Saturday.”
Admittedly making a mistake in time trials on Friday night, Moore Timed his Coors Light/Geico/Econo Lube and Tune entry in 29th quickest, which would burry him for much of the night.
Finishing eighth in his heat race, Moore would line up in the fifth row of the Last Chance Showdown, but would be involved in an opening lap incident that forced him to the back of the pack. Following a lap seven restart, Moore was able to make something happen as he carved his way into the sixth spot, but missed out on a transfer to the feature.
Saturday night, Moore would climb aboard the Friends and Family Racing No. x1 machine to do battle with the 360 division that was also in action. Timing in ninth fastest, Moore would race his way to a heat race win and move into the Dash.
By way of his seventh place finish, Moore would line the Econo Lube and Tune/Geico Local Office entry up in the fourth row of the 30-lap A Main event.
Hanging in the Top-10 when the race got underway, Moore would work his way up a few spots before lapped traffic proved to be tough on him. Falling back to 10th, Moore would bring his first night of racing with the F&F Racing team to a close with a Top-10 finish.
“I was happy with how things went in the 360 on Saturday night, “ Moore added. “We had a good car each time we hit the track, I just ran outta steam in the feature and we lost a couple of spots.”
Moore would like to thank Coors Light, Econo Lube and Tune, Geico Local Office, LRB Race Products, NAAKE Suspension, K&N, Selover Paint and Body, and Moore Insurance Services for their support.
ON TAP: Moore will be back in action on Wednesday night at the Placerville Speedway.
