PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in the 2017 Trophy Cup with the F&F Racing team, Mason Moore would have an up and down weekend that saw him bounce back from a Saturday night heat race flip and end up sixth in the ‘B’ Main.

“Trophy Cup is an extremely tough show, and unfortunately it didn’t go our way this year,” Moore said. “The guys worked hard, but we just couldn’t seem to get anything to go our way.”

With 90 cars checked into the pit area on Thursday night to open up the prestigious event, Moore timed the Geico/Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes/Twisted Team backed No. x1 machine in 17th quickest in time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Moore would take advantage of the starting spot and pick up the win, which was key as it locked him into the Thursday night feature event.

Gridding the field from the 15th starting spot, a tricky surface would make it tough on Moore to get going. Running a patient race, the Princeton, CA driver would maintain, as he would pocket a 15th place finish when the race drew to a close.

Back in action on Friday night, Moore would time in 18th quickest on this night and would again find himself on the front row of his heat race on an extremely rough and tumble racing surface. Unable to match the same success he had on Thursday, Moore would slip back to finish fourth, before picking up a 10th place finish in his ‘B’ Main.

Sitting 25th in points heading into Saturday night’s finale, Moore would need to have a good heat race and get a little help if he wanted to lock directly into the Trophy Cup feature event.

From his fourth starting position, Moore would work into third before a broken right rear shock would shoot him up the racetrack and get his machine upside down.

Working hard to get everything put back together, Moore would make the call for the ‘B’ main where he gridded the field from the eighth starting spot.

With the racing surface extremely fast in the semi, moving forward would again prove to be tough on most. Able to pick up a couple of positions on the track, Moore would end his 2017 Trophy Cup with a sixth place finish in the ‘B’.

“I have to thank everyone on the team for all of their hard work,” Moore said. “It was just one of those weekends that was tough on us. We will regroup, and give it another go at Stockton in a couple of weeks.”

Moore would like to thank Geico, Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Twisted Tea, Levin’s Auto Supply, Garth Moore Insurance, LRB Race Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Sierra Single Ply, Lucas Oil, RPI, and Encore Catering for their support in 2017.

ON TAP: Moore and the F&F Racing team will be back to it on November 4th in Stockton, CA.
