PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to chase after Andy Forsberg in Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster point standings, Mason Moore inched a little closer on Saturday night as he would finish third during the 11th Annual Mark Forni Classic.
“We didn’t get timed in well, but we took care of business in our heat race and that got us in the Dash, and put us in a great spot for the feature event,” Mason Moore said.
Timing the Geico Local Office/Econo Lube and Tune/LRB Race Products entry in 12th quickest in qualifying time trials, the Princeton, CA driver would pick up the win in his heat race and qualify for the Dash.
Pulling the three pill in the redraw, Moore would finish second to Kyle Hirst and put his F&F Racing entry on the front row for the 30-lap Mark Forni Classic feature event.
When the race came to life, Moore would slip to the third spot as Sean Becker raced by him in the opening laps of the feature event. On an extremely slick and technical speedway, Moore would find himself in a torrid battle with Andy Forsberg as they tussled for the third spot.
Racing wheel-to-wheel, the duo would put on a show as they seemingly exchanged the spot lap after lap. With Moore working the low side of the speedway, he would get under Forsberg who ran the top, but Forsberg would use the momentum to get Moore back as they played an entertaining game of cat and mouse.
In the closing laps, Moore would made a move to get by Forsberg and take over the third spot for good. With the Civil War season starting to wind down, points are valuable and the finish would let Moore inch closer to the point lead.
“It seems like the 7c and us and been right with each other the last few weeks, and it is good to finish in front of them,” Moore said. “It is a tight, and exciting battle so hopefully we can continue to this battle through the year. My guys gave me a great car, and it was awesome to get on the podium.”
Moore would like to thank Coors Light, Econo Lube and Tune, Geico Local Office, LRB Race Products, NAAKE Suspension, K&N, Selover Paint and Body, Lucas Oil, ITC Service Group, Saureel, and Moore Insurance Services for their support.
ON TAP: Moore and the F&F Racing team will be back at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
