Myers Jr Continues to Gain Valuable 410ci Experience in Hanford, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: With the season quickly winding down in California, Joel Myers Jr continues to challenge himself and take on the best out west in 410ci action. Friday and Saturday night, Myers Jr was in action in Hanford, CA where he made his 9th and 10th career starts with the bigger engine package.

“We have a really talented pool of 410ci drivers in California, and to gain 410ci experience by racing with these guys is really the best of both worlds,” Myers said. “I’m learning with the best out here and getting more laps with the 410ci at the same time.”

The weekend kicked off on Friday night with ‘Jr’ getting his weekend off to a nice start as he timed the All About Fire Protection/Dirt Dudes/Amerikote backed No. 46jr mount in fourth fastest in time trials.

Looking very strong in heat race competition, Jr would continue to impress as he flexed his muscle and picked up the heat race win going away. By way of the win, the Sebastopol, CA driver locked into the Dash where his fourth-place finish put him in the second row of the Cotton Classic feature event.

When the race came to life, Myers Jr would mix it up with some of the best out west as he hung inside the Top-5 as he worked around the Keller Auto Speedway.

A couple of late restarts would see Myers Jr slip out of the Top-five, then following the race’s final restart contact with another car would get him out of shape as he slipped back and went on to finish 13th.

Though disappointed with the end result, Myers was eager to return to action on Saturday night for the King of the West Series’ Morrie Williams Tribute.

Going out late in time trials, the slick surface would hamper Jr’s qualifying time as he would time in 20th fastest. Lining up seventh in his heat race, where a sixth-place finish would line him up seventeenth in the first of two 20-lap feature events.

Jockeying for positions as he searched around the speedway, Myers would slowly work his way forward. Just prior to the end of the first race, a wild incident would see 'Jr' get out of shape as he fell back through the field.

Losing a handful of positions, Myers Jr would end the first feature with a 19th place finish, which would place him in the fifth position for the second of the Twin-20’s.

Just as he did on Friday night, Jr would get off to a nice start as he ran inside the Top-5. Battling up front, a restart would prove costly to the 15-year-old pilot as he would not get the jump he needed and slipped back a few positions.

Falling out of the Top-10, Myers would give it as all to get back in though would come up just short as he capped the weekend off with an 11th place result.

“We have some good speed in our 410ci, and I am getting comfortable,” Myers Jr added. “When you race against these guys, you have to run perfect laps with no mistakes, so I have some things to work on, but I’m enjoying the challenge.”

Joel Myers Jr Racing would like to thank All About Fire Protection, Dirt Dudes, Amerikote, PitStopUSA, Y2K Gaming, Shark Racing Engines, Lucas Oil, Vaider, L Delo Designs, Factory Kahne Shocks, Walker Performance Filtration, ShopRico.Com, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Kaeding Performance, and Triple X Race Co. for their continued support.
