PETERSEN MEDIA: DJ Netto is beginning to develop a love-hate relationship with the Silver Dollar Speedway. The Hanford, CA driver has shown some serious speed at the ¼ mile speedway over the last year, but things during the course of the night seem to prevent him from finishing up front.

“I hate it for my guys,” DJ Netto said. “We have been really fast at Silver Dollar Speedway the last few times we have been there, but we seem to get caught up in a mess, or I make a mistake that knocks us out of contention when we have a good run going.”

Saturday night during the fourth annual David Tarter Memorial, Netto would lay down a great lap in time trials that saw him time the Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Kaeding Performance backed No. 88n machine in seventh fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Netto would race his way to the win which would put him in the nightly Dash and a second place finish lined him up on the front row of the 35-lap feature event.

Looking for his first win of the season, Netto would go toe-to-toe with one of the best at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Sean Becker. Flanking Becker during the opening rounds of the race, Netto continued to bide his time as he worked the ¼ mile speedway.

As the race reached the halfway point, Netto would run the top of turns three and four until his right rear would get over the cushion and his machine would spin to a stop on the 19th circuit.

Going to the tail end of the field with 16 laps left in the feature, Netto would drive with a chip on his shoulder as he worked his way back inside the Top-10. In the race’s final laps Netto would work his way back up to a ninth place finish.

Also in action on Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Netto would time n sixth fastest and win his heat race. Having a nice redraw, Netto would line up on the pole for the feature event, again with Sean Becker on the outside of him.

On this night, Netto would get off to the great start as he would lead the race’s first handful of laps until he would get into turns one and two a little too hot and slide off the racing surface.

Able to restart, Netto would end up pulling off on the 22nd lap and be credited with a 17th place finish.

“We really had an awesome car both Friday and Saturday night, and I just pressed the issues a little to hard, and it bit us,” Netto said. “I hate it for my guys, but I will learn from it and hopefully put together a strong run this weekend.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Kaeding Performance, Shell Rotella T6, and Van De Pol Enterprises for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: Netto will be at the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA on Friday night.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-26, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-11
