PETERSEN MEDIA: Running at his home track over the weekend, DJ Netto would finish eighth with the King of the West Series at the Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA.
“Saturday night was wild, and after having a good start, I felt like we got a little free and I had a hard time figuring turns one and two out,” DJ Netto said.
Timing his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts No. 88n machine in third quickest in time trials, Netto would race his way into the third spot in his heat race and solidify his spot in the Dash based on his qualifying effort.
Finishing fifth in the Dash, Netto would grid the field from the third row for what would be a wild 30-lap affair. After numerous starts to get the race started failed, Netto would move into the second spot as he chased after Dominic Scelzi, only to the see the yellow flag fly again on the second lap.
Continuing to run in the second spot after a couple of more stoppages, Netto would fall back to tird as the race resumed following a lap-seven fuel stop. Battlign with the likes of Carson Macedo, Jonathan Allard, and Tyler Walker as the race came to a close, Netto would ultimately take the checkered flag with an eighth place finish.
“Things went okay the first few laps, but then I made a few mistakes figuring out one and two, and that opened the door to a few guys, and we fell back to eighth,” Netto added.
Friday night, Netto and his DNR team were also in action at the Kings Speedway for a night of 360ci action. Timing in 12th quickest, Netto would line up on the front row of his heat race. Following a questionable start with his fellow front row starter, Netto would end up second which would put him in the sixth row for the 30-lap A Main.
Battling just outside the Top-10 much of the night on a track that stayed too good, Netto would end up pulling his machine back to his pit area with 11-laps to go in the race.
“Friday night we just weren’t going anywhere in the A Main, and I opted to call it a night early before anything got torn up,” he added. “I really have to thank Skip, Wood, and everyone that helps me out.”
DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, Kaeding Performance, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2015.
ON TAP: Netto and his team will make the trek down south with the KWS this weekend as they take to the Santa Maria Speedway on Friday night and the Ventura Raceway on Saturday night.
