Netto Finishes Sixth and Seventh With KWS

PETERSEN MEDIA: DJ Netto and his DJ Netto Racing team would be in action with the King of the West Series on a pair of occasions over the weekend, and the Hanford, CA driver would charge through the field twice as he finished sixth and seventh.

“We had really good speed both Saturday and Sunday night, but a couple of mistakes forced us to come through the field to finish where we did,” DJ Netto said.

Taking to his home track, Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA on Saturday night, Netto would open the two-race weekend up by timing his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Kaeding Performance backed No. 88n machine in seventh fastest in qualifications.

Racing his way to a third place finish, Netto would move into the Dash where the win would put him on the front row of the 30-lap feature event alongside Cory Eliason. Getting out to the early lead, Netto would turn in some great laps as he fended off Eliason in the early stages.

As the battle for the race lead heated up, Netto would get into the cushion too hard and bring his machine to a stop on the 10th circuit. Relegated to the back of the pack, Netto would continue to show speed as he did during the opening stages of the race as he carved his way back towards the front.

Using a late restart to execute a couple of passes, Netto would work his way back up to a seventh place finish.

Hoping to redeem himself on Sunday night at the Stockton Dirt Track, Netto would lay down a great lap in qualifying time trials as he ended up timing in second quickest.

Suffering a flat tire late in his heat race, Netto would hang to finish in the fifth spot which was key in him getting a berth into the Dash based on his qualifying effort. Finishing fourth in the Dash, Netto would line up in the second row of the feature event.

When the race came to life, Netto would be involved in a spin on the race’s opening lap, and would be forced into the work area. With the crew making repairs, Netto would rejoin the field as he tagged the back of the pack.

On a picture perfect racing surface, Netto did just as he did one night prior and that was run a patient race and work his way through the field. With only on yellow flag flying again on this night, Netto would charge the hard way as he fought his way back up to finish in the sixth spot.

“I am just making some big mistakes that are costing our team,” Netto said. “I am working on getting myself it to hard until it’s necessary, because I think that’s what I have made some mistakes the last few weeks. My guys are working hard, and we have a great car now, so hopefully I can do a little better on my end and get our team back on the podium.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Kaeding Performance, Shell Rotella T6, and Van De Pol Enterprises for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: Netto will be at the Ocean Speedway this coming weekend both Friday and Saturday night as he will take part in the Howard Kaeding Classic.
