Netto Nets Santa Maria Podium

PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the trip to the California Coast with the King of the West Series, DJ Netto picked up a third place finish on Friday night at the Santa Maria Speedway before an eventful night at the Ventura Raceway saw him come away with a ninth place effort.

“This team is still gelling, and we are continuing to get better with the car, and I am continuing to get a better feel,” DJ Netto said.

Kicking a two-race weekend off at the Santa Maria Speedway on Friday night, DJ Netto timed his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts No. 88n machine in 10th fastest. Racing his way to a fifth place finish in his heat, Netto was able to sneak into the Dash with the way heat races worked out.

Pulling the three-pill, Netto would finish the Dash in the fourth spot and line up for the feature event in the second row. Jumping into the third spot when the race went green, Netto set his sights on the lead duo of Brent Kaeding and Kyle Hirst.

Getting by BK on the second lap, Netto would then close in on the race leader, Kyle Hirst. Making his way to Hirst’s rear bumper, Netto would slide up and take the lead on lap seven, but a caution would negate his pass.

On the ensuing restart, Netto would slide up the track and allow Dominic Scelzi to get under him, as Netto fell back to the third spot. Chasing after Scelzi, Netto would just never have the opening he needed to get back in the second spot, as he held on to the final spot on the podium.

Following the series to Ventura, CA on Saturday night, Netto would time in 11th fastest. Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Netto would get to battling with Carson Macedo for the top spot. Getting out of shape, Netto would endure contact to his front end, and make a trip to the work area.

With damage to his frame as well as the front end, Netto’s crew would make what repairs they could, and Netto would restart the race and work his way back up to the second spot.

With numerous hands on his machine after the head to get more fixed, Netto would make the call for the feature event as he lined up in the sixth row. With many using the bottom of the speedway, the Hanford, CA driver just could not seem to get going and he would close his night out with a ninth place finish.

“I really have to thank everyone who came over and helped us out after the heat race,” Netto said. “We had to straighten some stuff out, and I really appreciate all of the various teams that came over. I also have to thank my guys for all of their hard work getting me comfortable in the car.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, Kaeding Performance, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: Netto and his team will make the trek down south with the KWS this weekend as they take to the Santa Maria Speedway on Friday night and the Ventura Raceway on Saturday night.
