PETERSEN MEDIA: DJ Netto had his work cut out for him on Saturday night, but the Hanford, CA wheelman rose to the occasion and put his machine in the feature event, only to see contact with the turn one wall bring his night to an early end.

“We struggled on Friday during both shows, but we really got rolling on Saturday in the B Main,” DJ Netto said. “I have to thank Skip, Wood, and everyone else who helped us out all weekend long.”

Sitting deep in Trophy Cup points heading into the Saturday night finale, DJ Netto lined up in the 19th spot of the 25-lap B Main event, needing to finish in the Top-Four to transfer into the 50-lap feature event.

A very racy Thunderbowl Raceway allowed Netto to get up on the wheel as he carved his way through the field, and the possibility of him making the feature became a reality when the yellow flag flew late in the race.

Sitting in the fifth spot, Netto made a bold move out of turn four on a restart to jump into the fourth and final transfer spot. Looking for some breathing room, Netto would get by Travis Rilat and Roger Crockett to finish in the second spot and move into the 50-lap feature event.

Lining up on the front row of the A, Netto was shot out of a cannon when the race went green. Simply leaving the field behind, Netto quickly reeled in lapped traffic, who at this race are the top point earners.

Working on traffic, Netto would feel another car come up the track and pinch him into the turn one wall, and the damage would bring his night to an early end on lap seven.

“It was disappointing to have our night end the way it did, but we had some awesome speed,” Netto said. “Hopefully we can build off of what we did on Saturday night and have a good run at Hanford this week with the King of the West Series.

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, Kaeding Performance, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: Netto and his team will be at the Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA on Saturday night for the 30th Annual Cotton Classic.
