Netto Sixth at Placerville

PETERSEN MEDIA: The Placerville Speedway hasn’t been too kind to DJ Netto over his brief career, but on Saturday night the Hanford, CA pilot put together a great night as he finished sixth on the high banked ¼ mile track.

With 27 cars on hand for the King of the West event at Placerville Speedway, Netto timed his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts entry in 11th fastest.

Starting on the pole of his heat, a greasy bottom of the track made the inside lane not ideal to start in, but Netto was there, and moved into the second spot, where he would go onto finish.

By way of his second place effort in heat race action, Netto lined up in the sixth row of the feature event.

Using some cautions and double file restarts to his advantage, Netto worked around the speedway, as he slowly worked his way forward, and through the field.

Finding himself well inside the Top-10 when the race’s final caution flew with just three laps to go, Netto picked up a couple of positions when the action resumed, and during a wild last corner incident coming to the checkered flag, Netto was able to steal a spot as he crossed the stripe in the sixth spot.

“Placerville has always been hard on me, so it was nice to get through the night, and end up with a good finish,” he said. “The last few times I have been here, I would be the one getting collected in those deals, so it was a nice change of pace.”

Friday night saw Netto and his team check into the Ocean Speedway for a night of action with the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo.

Timing in 11th fastest, Netto was able to take advantage of his starting position on the front row, and pick up the heat win, and earn a spot in the redraw, where he pulled the three, and put himself in the second row for the 30-lap main event.

Running a very strong third place when the feature got underway, Netto got up over the cushion trying to avoid a slide-job. When he got over the cushion, he got into the wall causing severe damage to his machine, and ended his night.

“I made a mistake and got into the wall, and did some serious damage,” Netto said. “I have to thank my guys for working hard and getting the back up car ready for us to go race Placerville, and I was really happy to reward them with a decent night.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2014.

ON TAP: Netto returns to action on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway before taking to the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA for the Peter Murphy Classic.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-30, Wins-1, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-8
