PETERSEN MEDIA: Teaming back up with Scott Bonar on Sunday night for a night of action at Randolph County Raceway, Paul Nienhiser would put together a good night that culminated with an eighth-place finish.
“I thought we were decent all night long,” Paul Nienhiser said. “We had an issue in hot laps, and that kind of forced us to play the guessing game in our heat. We were able to take our heat and get ourselves really good in the feature but unfortunately our right rear sealed up late and cost us a Top-5.”
Battling a wing slider issue that caused his car to be extremely tight in hot laps, Nienhiser and crew would line up fifth in their heat playing a bit of a guessing game after the hot lap issue. Able to feel the car out, the Chapin, IL driver would finish in the fifth position and the team would go to work to make some adjustments for the feature event later in the night.
Lining up 14th in the feature event, Nienhiser would take a liking to the high side of the speedway as he began his march forward.
Quickly working his way into the Top-10, Nienhiser would continue to battle as he worked his way up to seventh.
A late caution would prove detrimental to Nienhiser’s progress however, as his right rear would seal over and he would go on the defensive for the race’s final laps.
Losing a position as he tried to hang on, Nienhiser would cap his Sunday night with an eighth-place finish, capping a very nice run from 14th.
“Big thanks to Scott and the guys for working their butt’s off and making it a good night in the big picture,” Nienhiser added.
Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.
2020 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-8, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-3
