Nienhiser Second at Jacksonville Speedway as Attention Now Turns to USAC Eastern Storm

PETERSEN MEDIA: Sneaking in another winged race at Jacksonville Speedway on Friday night with the USAC Eastern Storm upcoming, Paul Nienhiser would pick up a hard fought second place finish at his home track.

“After last week, I thought we had this car figured out, but it still isn’t quite where I want it to be,” Nienhiser said. “The unfortunate thing is we haven’t been able to run it much so it will continue to be a work in progress each time we get it out.”

Finding himself back in the fourth row for his heat race, the Chapin, IL driver would navigate through traffic on the extremely slick surface as he managed to pick up a fifth-place finish aboard the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design backed machine.

Sitting sixth in points following heat race competition, Nienhiser would roll off the starting grid from the sixth position with no inversion draw on this night.

When the race came to life, Nienhiser would put his car up on the cushion as well as on the bottom groove as he navigated his way through the Top-5, chasing after leader, Ryan Timms.

Able to race into second, Timms had built up a very big lead and it was simply too much for Nienhiser to overcome. Giving it all he had, Nienhiser would come up short and settle for a second-place finish on this Friday night.

“We were able to get to second, but he had a pretty good lead and there was no reeling him in,” Nienhiser said. “I’d like to say I think we may have had something for him if we had a caution, but I don’t know if that would have helped. Still a little bit of work to do on our winged car, but we will worry about that after this week’s trip out East with USAC.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Roadworks, Peterbilt, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.

2021 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-25, Wins-3, Top 5’s-6, Top 10’s-11
