Not The Season Finale Kyle Hirst Was Hoping For

PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking on the King of the West Series on Saturday night at the Stockton Dirt Track for the 32nd Annual Tribute to Gary Patterson, Kyle Hirst saw a good night go south late as the rough and tumble track got the best of him and his season came to an end upside down.

“We had a really good racecar, and I guess I got a little to greedy trying to make the top work,” Kyle Hirst said. “It was fast and rough, and I got to hopping and it went over unfortunately. It definitely was not the ending to the season I wanted.”

Timing the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle No. 83JR machine in fourth fastest, the Paradise, CA driver would finish fourth in his heat race.

Earning a spot in the Dash by way of his qualifying effort, Hirst would line up in the seventh spot, and his sixth place finish would put him in the third row for the King of the West’s final feature event of the season.

When the race went green, Hirst was hard on the throttle as he began working his way forward quickly on the rough and tumble Stockton Dirt Track. Getting into the third spot in just a few laps, Hirst would take over the second position on the ninth lap.

A lap 11 restart re-racked the field, and the ensuing restart would see Hirst and Macedo fight for the position. With Macedo getting the spot, Hirst would continue to hound him as he ran in the third spot, but would begin to feel pressure from Bud Kaeding.

Slipping back to the fourth spot after getting out of shape on the rough surface, Hirst would get out of shape eon the 19th lap and it would result in him getting upside down.

“I hate it for my guys, because nobody wants to end their season like that,” Hirst said. “Though we didn’t have any plans at the start of the season, I really want to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for putting this team together and giving me another shot. We had a great season, and hopefully we can do it again in 2016.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, KW Suspension, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2015.
