PETERSEN MEDIA: Making a last minute decision to head to Placerville Speedway on Saturday, Kyle Offill would have a nice night that saw him transfer from the ‘B’ Main and charge from last in the feature to finish in the 14th spot.
“I thought Saturday night went well,” Offill noted. “We just missed the inversion out of time trials so that put us behind all night, but I was happy with how our Moyle Engine ran.”
30 cars checked into the pit area on Saturday night, and Offill would kick his night off by timing in 17th fastest in qualifying time trials. Just missing out on a front row starting position in his heat race, Offill would start and finish fifth aboard his Ochoco West/Boise Cascade/Reliable Lumber backed No. 2K.
Not making the direct transfer to the ‘A’, the Tracy, CA driver would move into the Last Chance Showdown where he would again line up in the fifth starting spot. Needing to run within the top-four to move on, Offill proved to be up for the task at hand.
Working his way around a tricky Placerville Speedway, Offill would take the fourth and final transfer spot out of the ‘B’, and move into the 25-lap feature event where he would take the green flag from the 22nd starting position.
An unusual June track surface in the feature event would challenge Offill a little more from the back of the pack. Showing patience while mired in traffic all race long, the young gasser would work his Maas Brothers Powder Coating/TMac Motorsports/Offill Family Farms machine forward as he closed his night out with a 14th place finish.
“My guys put a really good car under me in the feature event and we were able to move forward from dead last,” Offill added. “I am feeling more comfortable on these tricky tracks, and I am hoping we can be run well with the SCCT on Saturday at Antioch.”
Team KO Racing would like to thank Ochoco West, Boise Cascade, Reliable Lumber, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, TMAC Motorsports, Offill Family Farms, Golden State Lumber, Inc., California TrusFrame, Lord & Sons, Inc., B&S Hacienda Auto Body, Country Builders Construction, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, HRP, Taco Bravo, and Bacchetti Hay Service for their support this year.
