PETERSEN MEDIA: Making just his fourth winged sprint car start ever on Saturday night, Kyle Offill and Team KO Racing broke through and scored the youngster’s first victory.
“Running the first three SCCT races really helped my confidence going into the local level on Saturday night,” Kyle Offill said. “We went from running Tulare on Friday, which was the fastest track I have been on yet, to Antioch on Saturday and I think that helped us a lot.”
Making a repeat appearance at the Antioch Speedway after kicking the SCCT season off there a few weeks ago, Offill would get his night off to a good start as he was able to race his way to a heat race win aboard the Ochoco West/Boise Cascade/Reliable Lumber backed No. 2K.
Finding himself on the front row of the feature event, Offill kept it all business as he jumped out to the early lead. Hitting his marks lap-after-lap at the Antioch Speedway, Offill was able to seal the deal, as he parked his Maas Brothers Powder Coating/TMAC Motorsports/Offill Family Farms entry in victory lane for the first time in his young sprint car career.
Friday night Offill and company were also in action as they took on the Sprint Car Challenge Tour in Tulare, CA. Making his first appearance at the tricky facility, Offill would time in eighth fastest in his qualifying group and line up in the fourth row for his heat race.
In his first racing action on the high-banked facility, Offill was able to move forward as he picked up a seventh place finish. Not making the transfer to the feature event, the Tracy, CA driver’s overall qualifying time would be good enough to earn him a spot in the Finley Farms ‘B’ Main event.
Starting from the rear of the field, Offill would continue to gain confidence at the sometimes-daunting Thunderbowl Raceway. Getting more comfortable each lap, Offill would bring his night to a close with a 13th place finish.
“Tulare was an experience,” Offill added. “I was able to get up on top and use the bottom to move forward. We were pretty fast and we gained positions every time we hit the track. It’s been a fun start to the season and looking forward to our next one.”
Team KO Racing would like to thank Ochoco West, Boise Cascade, Reliable Lumber, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, TMAC Motorsports, Offill Family Farms, Golden State Lumber, Inc., California TrusFrame, Lord & Sons, Inc., B&S Hacienda Auto Body, Country Builders Construction, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, HRP, and Bacchetti Hay Service for their support this year.
