Offill Seventh at Ocean Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to racing action after a couple of off weekends, Kyle Offill would pick up a seventh place finish on Friday night at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA before a tough night at the Mark Forni Classic at Placerville Speedway saw him finish 11th in the semi.

“Friday night the track was pretty fast all night long and fortunately I was able to have a good qualifying lap and get into the dash,” Offill said. “Saturday night was a tough night. I didn’t get a good qualifying lap and with such a deep field I was never able to dig out of the hole.”

Checking into the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds on Friday night, Offill timed the Ochoco West/Boise Cascade/Reliable Lumber No. 2K entry in fifth quickest overall before racing his way to a fourth place finish in his heat race.

Based on his time trial effort, the Tracy, CA pilot would earn a spot in the Dash where a sixth place finish would line him up in the third row for the 30-lap feature event.

A hooked up and wicked fast Ocean Speedway surface would see the feature go non stop, and only take 6 minutes and 36 seconds to complete. With passing tough for the most part, Offill was able to maintain as he took the checkered flag with a seventh place finish.

Regrouping for Saturday night, Offill and the Team KO Racing group made the trip to Placerville Speedway to take part in the 12th Annual Mark Forni Classic. Going out late in time trials, Offill would time the Maas Brothers Powder Coating/TMac Motorsports/Offill Family Farms machine in 31st quickest of the 42 cars entered into the event.

The start of his heat race would see Offill get over the turn one cushion resulting in his machine getting upside down. With minor damage to his machine, Offill would be done for the heat, but would return for the semi.

Lining up in the eighth row, Offill had his work cut out for him if he wanted to keep his night going. On a slick Placerville Speedway racing surface, he was able to make some group up but his 11th place finish would bring his night to an early end.

“It was good to get back in the car,” Offill said. “Saturday was kind of a rough night, but we will regroup and try again this weekend with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.”

Team KO Racing would like to thank Ochoco West, Boise Cascade, Reliable Lumber, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, TMAC Motorsports, Offill Family Farms, Golden State Lumber, Inc., California TrusFrame, Lord & Sons, Inc., B&S Hacienda Auto Body, Country Builders Construction, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, HRP, Taco Bravo,  and Bacchetti Hay Service for their support this year.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 24, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 7
