Offill Takes Part in First Capitani Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to the Midwest for one of the biggest race weekends of the year, Kyle Offill was proud of his efforts making his first appearance during mid-August at Knoxville Raceway, dates that are typically known as the Knoxville Nationals.

“Taking part in the “One and Only’ and the ‘Capitani Classic’ was a lot of fun, and really good learning experience for myself,” Kyle Offill said. “Though it wasn’t the true Nationals, it was a very loaded field of cars and tough format, and it was all about laps for me.”

Still looking for the best results possible, it was more about the experience of taking on the best of the best for Kyle Offill who spent the weekend aboard the famed Country Builders/Ochoco West/Brown and Miller backed No. 88 machine.

Taking on the loaded nearly 70-car field during all three nights of action, Offill would take his lumps but would also gain all-important seat time at the most iconic dirt track in the land.

Finshing eight in the ‘D’ on Thursday night, Offill bounced back on Friday night and was able to better his night a little as he finished 18th in the ‘C’ main on this night.

Saturday night brought on qualifiers and feature events at the ‘Capitani Classic’, and the Tracy, CA driver would finish 11th in his qualifier and move into the Saturday night ‘C’ Main.

From his 12th starting position in the ‘C’, Offill would pick up a few positions in the 12-lap race as he capped his big weekend in Knoxville off with an eighth-place finish in the ‘C’.

Though the results were a little rough, it proved to be a good starting point for the West Coast driver who will now stay in the Midwest and return to Knoxville Raceway in two-weeks.

“There were a lot of barriers to overcome, and it was a really tough event,” Offill added. “I felt that it was really good for myself and the team to gain experience with each and every lap, and I felt a ton of improvement with myself as we went on. I am excited to stay out here and keep learning as long as I can as our schedule winds down.”

Kyle Offill would like to thank Country Builders, Ochoco West, Brown and Miller, Maas Bros., Reliable Lumber, Boise Cascade, Offill Family Farms, Weld Wheels, HRP, FK Shocks, Arai America Helmets, Hinchman Racewear, Maxim Chassis, and B. Scadden Design for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 23, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 6

ON TAP: Offill will be idle this weekend before returning to Knoxville Raceway on August 29th.
