PETERSEN MEDIA- Attacking the Quit Bunbury Speedway for the WA vs. USA Speedweek finale on Saturday night in Australia, Parker Price-Miller made a late race bid for his second win of the trip, but would come up just short and finish second, though it would be good enough to give him Speedweek Championship honors.

“We had a really good car, and I think we were better than he was at the end,” Parker Price-Miller said. “They (Jamie Maiolo) did a great job on getting the win, and it is pretty cool to finish second and win the points deal.”

Timing in fourth quickest in qualifying time trials, Price-Miller would score second and fourth place finishes during heat race action, and line the USA2 entry up in the second row of the 30-lap feature event.

Jumping into second when the race came to life, Price-Miller would begin working on Jason Kendrick for the second position just before the first caution of the night flew.

When the race came back to life, Price-Miller would feel pressure from fellow American, Ryan Smith, for third but the Kokomo, IN driver was able to fend him off and begin to chase back after Kendrick who ran in second.

Continuing to run the cushion, PPM would keep Kendrick within striking distance as the race hit the halfway point. With 10-to-go, Price-Miller would surge into the second spot as he set his sights on Maiolo who had built up a sizeable lead.

As the race drew to a close, Price-Miller continued to pound the cushion as he cut into Maiolo’s lead. In traffic with five to go, PPM would cut the lead down from a straightaway and they would take the white flag side by side.

With a lap car in front of the lead pack, PPM would dive low as Maiolo used his momentum to run the top, and that would prove to be a race winning move as he got off turn two in the lead and beat PPM back to the checkered flag.

By way of his second place finish, PPM and Maiolo would end the week with the same amount of points, but PPM would win the tie breaker and be crowned the USA vs. WA Speedweek Champ.

“I have to thank all of these guys for working so hard, and giving me a fast car all four nights,” PPM said. “It’s cool to win this USA vs. WA Speedweek to open the year up.”

Price-Miller and his team would like to thank 360 Yield, Dupont, Pioneer, FlyingAG, Agee Farms, Encirca, Chalk Stix, Bell Helmets, and PPM Titanium for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 2, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 2, Top-10’s: 2.

ON TAP: PPM will return home to take part in the Chili Bowl where he will hit the track on Wednesday night.
