PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in the rain shortened #LetsRaceTwo event at Eldora Speedway on Friday night, Robert Ballou would start to come to life in the feature event before a rear-end failure brought his night to an early end.
“Our night started off alright, but we were just too tight in the feature,” Ballou said. “As the laps did click off we were getting better as things came to us, but we lost a rear-end and it ended our night.”
Timing the Dickinson Farms/Abreu Vineyards/Deaton’s Waterfront Service backed entry in eighth quickest in qualifying time trials, the Rocklin, CA native turned Hoosier would charge to a second place finish in heat race competition.
Moving into the 30-lap feature event, ‘The Mad Man’ would take the green flag from the eighth starting position on the famed ½ mile speedway.
Getting off to a bit of a slow start, Ballou would be patient, as he would start to come to life with his fuel load starting to burn off. Working inside the Top-10, Ballou would start to trend the right direction until issues on the 10th lap would bring his night to an early end.
“We were just starting to get maneuverable but we lost a rear-end,” Ballou said. “Disappointing for sure, but we know what we need to do to get better, and we will try again this weekend.”
