Paul Nienhiser Second Again with Sprint Invaders

PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to battle with Sprint Invaders aboard Scott Bonar’s No. 50, Paul Nienhiser had another strong run with the series as he raced to a second-place finish on Friday night in Davenport, IA.

“We felt really good in hot laps and drawing a late pill for our heat race allowed us to gain some points as we worked forward,” Nienhiser said. “We kept chasing the track a little, but in the feature, we were good but just came up short as it took rubber late.”

Lining up seventh in heat race action, a racy Davenport Speedway allowed Nienhiser to carve his way forward while dealing with traffic. Able to secure the final spot in the Dash, Nienhiser and company went to work on their car to try and keep up with the drying tack conditions.

Taking the green flag from sixth in the Dash, Nienhiser jumped into fourth quick before ultimately settling for a fifth-place finish. Moving into the redraw, the two-pill placed Nienhiser on the front row of the feature event.

When the race came to life, Nienhiser hooked up in a hotly contested battle for the second position aboard the Midland Performance/Kinney Racing Engines/Rockstar Wraps entry.

While Ninehiser jockeyed for the second spot, his battle kept him right on the tail of the race’s early leader. Slipping back to third, Nienhiser continued to pace Chris Martin who ran ahead of him in second.

Late in the race, rubber began to go down on the track, and Nienhiser was able to sneak under Martin and take over the second position as he closed in on the leader.

Unable to get up to the leader and challenge for the lead, Nienhiser capped the night off with a hard fought second place finish.

“Huge thanks to the guys for working hard and doing what they could to get our car to make grip on the slick,” Nienhiser said. “It is a little frustrating to get another second, but it means we are good, and we are getting close to that first win.”

Nienhiser would also like to thank Midland Performance, Kinney Racing Engines, Rockstar Wraps, Heartland Trailer Manufacturing, Robert’s Tire Center, and Stronghurst Collision for their support of the No. 50 car.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-9, Wins-0, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-6

ON TAP: Nienhiser gets back to racing action again on Sunday in Vinton, IA for more Sprint Invaders action.
