Peterson Has Up and Down Night At Petaluma Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Matt Peterson looked to rebound from a slow start at the Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night with the Civil War Series, but a late race part failure ended a valiant effort.

“This place was so good to me and my team last year, and unfortunately things did not go our way on Saturday night,” Peterson said.

Going our early in time trials, the Wilton, CA driver was hampered by greasy conditions, as he timed the Miller Lite/V&H Fresh/Inventory Sales No. p37 machine in 24th fastest.

Finishing fifth in his heat race, Peterson would be forced to go to the night’s B Main event, where he would start in the sixth spot and finish fifth to move into the feature event, where he would roll off from the 21st starting spot.

The main event changes drastically on the first lap as a big pile up involving six cars, helped Peterson gain some early track position.

When things came back to life, Peterson restarted in the 14th spot, on a very fast, and heavy racing surface making passing very tough.

Keeping his composure and using patience from the back of the pack, Peterson simply went were there was open real estate on the congested Petaluma Speedway as he worked his way through the field.

Using a few double file restarts to his advantage, Peterson worked his way up to sixth spot, and was looking to move into the Top-Five when something in his machine went south, and he was forced to slow up, and bring out the caution.

The issues would ultimately be terminal, and Peterson would close his night out with an 18th place finish.

“It is not the start to the Civil War season we were hoping for, but we were able to show some speed the last few weeks,” Peterson said. “I think we will be okay if we can stay out of trouble and time in a little better. I really have to thank everyone who came out and gave us a hand in Petaluma, and thank everyone who continues to support our team.”

Matt and his team would like to thank V&H Fresh, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Future Energy Savers, Transportation Services, The Oil Medics, Shell Shock, Vahlco Wheels, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2015.
