PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Matt Peterson put together another strong night of racing as he stayed consistent and recorded his second consecutive fifth place finish at the famed speedway.

“Overall it was really a solid night for us,” Peterson said. “I am really liking the direction we are headed at Placerville, and hopefully we can be even better the next time we race there.”

After timing in third fastest against the 25 cars that we checked into the pit area, Peterson would finish third in his heat race aboard the Miller Lite/V&H Fresh/Inventory Sales Company no. p37 entry.

Moving into the feature event, and making himself redraw eligible by way of his time trial effort, Peterson would line his Bear Trucking/Future Energy Savers/Transportation Services backed machine up fifth in the 25-lap feature event.

When the race got underway, Peterson got off to a slow start, as he would slip back as far as the eighth spot, before he was able to settle down, and find a groove. Patiently working his way back forward, Peterson would go wheel to wheel with Dominic Scelzi and Colby Wiesz as he worked his way back up to sixth.

Late in the race, the Wilton, CA product chased after Jimmy Trulli as he looked to take over the fifth position. Hounding Trulli, Peterson would grab the fifth spot, and set his sights on Jake Morgan for fourth as the race drew to a close. Running out of laps, Peterson was unable to do anything with Morgan, and would take the checkered flag in the fifth spot for the second week in a row.

“I made a couple of mistakes that hurt us, but Brian Cannon and my guys gave me a really good car for the second weekend in a row at Placerville, and we were able to move forward,” he added. “We are starting to come around and get faster, so hopefully we can have a nice showing with the Civil War Series this Saturday night.

Matt and his team would like to thank V&H Fresh, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Future Energy Savers, Transportation Services, The Oil Medics, Shell Shock, Vahlco Wheels, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2015.
