PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking to the Silver Dollar Speedway for the 23rd Annual Fall Nationals in Chico, CA over the weekend, Matt Peterson would turn in a very strong showing on Friday night that saw him advance from his 21st starting position to finish 10th, before a nasty wreck during time trials on Saturday night ended his weekend, and potentially his season.
“Friday night was a really good night for us,” Matt Peterson said. “We had some issues early, but we were able to get them fixed, and we were pretty good in the feature. Saturday night, I took a pretty hard crash, and it looks like my season might be done, unless I can find an opportunity for the last couple of races.”
Checking in at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night for the Fall Nationals opener, Peterson would time his V&H Fresh/Miller Lite/Inventory Sales Company no. p37 machine in 13th fastest in his qualifying flight.
Lining up in the fourth row of his heat race, the Wilton, CA driver would work his way up to sixth, coming up just one spot short of advancing to the feature event.
Finding himself in the third row of the night’s B Main, Peterson would get up into the third position in the running order, and safely advance into the night’s 30-lap feature event.
With his car not feeling right, Peterson and his crew worked feverishly in between to “B” and the “A” to get steering boxes changed out, and that would prove to a be a difference maker.
On a picture perfect Silver Dollar Speedway, Peterson did not let starting in the 11th row get him down, as he was able to carve his way forward through the slick. Able to drive by some of the regions top drivers, Peterson would close his night with an impressive 10th place finish.
Looking to build off of Friday night’s performance, Peterson came into Saturday night’s finale with confidence, but unfortunately his night would end far too soon.
Going out for time trials, Peterson’s machine would get upside down violently, and the wreckage would end his night, as Peterson was also shaken up in the incident., though he was able to get checked out and released at the track.
“I am just thankful that these cars we drive today are really safe, and the safety equipment we are in is top of the line,” Peterson said. “It was a pretty hard hit, and I am just glad I was able to escape it unharmed essentially. The bummer is the wreck has ended our year in my family car, but I am seeking an opportunity for Trophy Cup and the finale in Stockton, CA.”
Matt and his team would like to thank V&H Fresh, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Future Energy Savers, Transportation Services, The Oil Medics, Shell Shock, Vahlco Wheels, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2015.
