Peterson Rallies To 11th Place Finish at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Admittedly making a mistake at the start of the Saturday night feature event in Placerville, CA, Matt Peterson put on an impressive charge from the back of the pack that resulted in him working his way back to finish in the 11th spot on an extremely slick Placerville Speedway.

“I had a great starting position, and just made a huge mistake at the start of the race,” Peterson said. “Luckily for me there was no additional contact, and my guys gave me a really good car that made it possible for me to rebound.”

Timing his Miller Lite/V&H Fresh/Inventory Sales Company No. p37 entry in 15th fastest during qualifying time trials, Peterson would be involved in an extremely entertaining heat race battle with Greg DeCaires. Going back and forth with DeCaires, Peterson would get the better of the veteran as he would pick up the heat race win and earn a spot in the night’s redraw.

Pulling the three pill, the Wilton, CA driver would line the Bear Trucking/Transportation Services/Future Energy Savers backed machine up in the second row for the 25-lap feature event. When the green flag flew on the event, Peterson would make contact as the field worked into turn one and he would sping his machine out.

With no apparent damage to his entry, Peterson would restart the race from the tail end of the field. On the slick surface, Peterson would go to work amidst thick traffic and tough conditions. Working the bottom of the speedway, Peterson slowly made progress as he worked his way forward lap after lap.

Taking advantage of a few late race restarts, the former Civil War Gold Cup winner would crack the Top-10 in the latter stages of the event, but as the dust settled on the race Peterson would come home in the 11th spot.

“It was frustrating to make such a huge mistake, but I do have to admit it was fun to make a run from the back,” Peterson added. “I have to thank everyone involved for making things fun at the track, and giving me a good car.”

Matt and his team would like to thank, Miller Lite, V&H Fresh, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Transportation Services, Future Energy Savers, Hoskins Mechanical Resources, Vahlco Wheels, JhdDesings, Shell Shock, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2016.
